Planners shut down application to build 100 new apartments in south Dublin

Prominent property developer The Adroit Company has had its plan to build more than 100 new apartments at a site in Dublin’s Harold’s Cross shut down. The company had applied for permission to construct 121 apartments on the site of the existing Harold’s Bridge Court complex.

A real estate agent in Dublin has been ordered to pay €3,000 to a single mother who claimed she was discriminated against when applying to rent a property. The woman in question was told that the landlord of the two-bedroom apartment was “looking for a couple.”

Extended construction plans for Clontarf sea wall leaves residents unhappy

Businesses and residents in Clontarf say they are frustrated with plans to extend the construction of the Clontarf flood defence wall by a further 12 months. Dispute over the height of the sea wall has greatly delayed construction, with locals arguing that it would obscure the sea views for which the area is known.

• Construction on Limerick’s new €17.6m Gardens International office building began earlier this week. The 100,000 square foot building on Henry St will be the largest commercial property development outside of Dublin. Work is set to be completed by late 2018.

• The newest coffee-to-go addition to Dublin’s Thomas St doesn’t require much construction, as it’ll all be housed in a freight container. Located on a vacant lot next to the Digital Hub, Container Coffee is set to open in the coming weeks, with a seating capacity for ten people as well as a takeaway service.
